Developing the sport
Promoting Hand-to-Hand Fight in Germany and developing it sustainably — at both grassroots and elite level.
Who we are, what we aim to achieve and what the German Hand-to-Hand Fight association stands for.
The Deutscher Hand-to-Hand Fight Verein e.V. (DHFV) is the national organisation that develops, promotes and represents the sport of Hand-to-Hand Fight in Germany.
As the official point of contact for clubs, athletes, coaches and referees, the association coordinates national competition and represents Germany’s interests internationally.
Hand-to-Hand Fighting is a close-combat sport that combines punching and kicking techniques with throws and groundwork. Its roots lie in Sambo and classic close combat. Through the Hand-to-Hand Fighting Sport International Federation (HSIF), the association is part of the worldwide competition structure.
Promoting Hand-to-Hand Fight in Germany and developing it sustainably — at both grassroots and elite level.
Staging national and European championships and taking part in World Championships.
Ensuring consistent competition rules, weight classes and refereeing standards — for fair sport at every level.
The DHFV uses martial arts to promote integration, equal opportunities and social participation — especially for children, young people and people with a migrant background.
On the mat, what counts is commitment, respect and fair play — not origin or background. We pass on these values in every training session and at every competition.
The association works with sports clubs, martial arts schools, regional organisations, international federations, event organisers, coaches, referees and athletes to build an effective and forward-looking structure.
Fair play, transparency and sporting integrity underpin everything the association does — on and off the mat.
Consistent standards in training and competition ensure quality and comparability across Germany.
We support both: helping everyone get into the sport, and helping the best reach the international top.
Youth development and coach education secure the future of the sport — with licences for coaches and referees.
Sporting exchange and close cooperation with international federations — first and foremost the HSIF.
Respect, honour, fair play and responsibility — the values of martial arts shape our work with every member.
